Frigon Blau Chair in Family Medicine Research

The Frigon Blau Chair in Family Medicine Research is Women’s College Hospital’s first endowed chair in family medicine research. The chair was made possible by a generous endowment from Louise Fast, a longtime donor and supporter of the Women’s College Hospital Family Practice Health Centre. It is named for two family physicians: Fast’s grandfather Dr. Rosaire Frigon, who completed his medical degree in 1902 and practised medicine in Quebec for over 50 years; and Fast’s own family physician Dr. Nadia Blau, who joined WCH family practice in 1968 and practised here for more than 40 years, retiring in 2010.

Dr. Onil Bhattacharyya holds the Frigon Blau Chair in Family Medicine Research. As Chair, he will co-lead an incubator which selects, helps implement and evaluate new models of healthcare in Ontario; study innovative models from low- and middle-income countries; and develop tools to help produce guidelines that are more likely to improve health and the patient experience while lowering healthcare costs.
