Trauma Treatment

The Trauma Treatment Program focuses on the adult sequelae of early life exposure to interpersonal trauma. As Academic Leader of the Trauma Treatment Program at Women's College Hospital, Dr. Catherine Classen leads research efforts in this theme area.

WRAP (Women Recovering from Abuse) is one element of the Trauma Treatment Program that offers outpatient support and treatment to survivors of chronic interpersonal traumatization. WRAP is multidisciplinary, intensive and unique in Ontario. Under the direction of Dr. Classen, and in collaboration with Drs. Robert Muller and Lynne Angus from York University as well as the WRAP clinicians, the team of researchers and clinicians are studying the characteristics of the women referred to and participating in the program and how the program affects these women. They want to understand who is most likely to participate in WRAP and benefit from the program. In particular, this work aims to identify the elements most closely linked to good outcomes.

Dr. Catherine Classen and Eva Marie Stern is Art Psychotherapist at WRAP were recently interviewed about research at WRAP. Learn more about the WRAP study here
