Both Drs. Loutfy and Maggi are part of a number of networks of HIV researchers active provincially, nationally and internationally. Dr. Loutfy contributes to Canadian HIV Trial Network trials with participants enrolled at the Maple Leaf Medical Clinic and will continue to be part of this important national body for HIV research.

Numerous Ontario-based researchers have already partnered with Drs. Loutfy and Maggi at the Women and HIV Research Program. In particular, the program has built links with Dr. Mark Yudin of St. Michael's Hospital on his research on pregnancy and HIV and Dr. Rupert Kaul, Canada Research Chair in HIV on his research on the impact of co-infections on HIV in HIV-positive women. Dr. Maggi works extensively with Dr. Tamara Daly of York University and Dr. Mark Halman of St. Michael's Hospital on mental health issues in HIV. Other researchers who have been collaborating with the Women and HIV Research Program include Drs. Kevin Gough, Sharon Walmsley, Anita Rachlis, Kellie Murphy, Jim Downey, Fiona Smaill, Marina Klein, Elizabeth Phillips and David Burdge.

Dr. Loutfy has also been asked to contribute to the POWER study. The Power Study is a multi-year project funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. It will produce a provincial women's health report card that will help identify problems and inequities in our systems of care and support policymaking to address these issues. Critical to this process is identifying effective standardized measures of women's health care - indicators that tell us how well the system is doing, how accessible it is to women, and what kind of health outcomes are being produced. Dr. Loutfy will serve on the HIV Expert Panel to determine the most appropriate indicators for women's HIV care in Ontario.

On the international front, Dr. Maggi is working with doctors from Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia) and University of Witswaterstrand (South Africa). This group is conducting a needs assessment of psychiatrists in Sub-Saharan Africa in the area of HIV psychiatry.
