Dr. An-Wen ChanDr. An-Wen is a scientist at WCRI and an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Dermatology at the University of Toronto. He is also a Mohs surgeon and clinical epidemiologist in the Ricky Kanee Schachter Dermatology Program at Women's College Hospital. Dr. Chan is a Rhodes Scholar who completed his sub-specialty surgical fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Research and Academic Interests
Dr. Chan studies the epidemiology and innovative treatment of high-risk skin cancers. He plans to partner with organ transplant centres across the city to run a sub-specialized transplant dermatology clinic and to explore ways of reducing the skin cancer risk for immunosupressed patients.

Dr. Chan is a recognized expert in clinical trial quality and methods. He has published extensively on this subject with papers in leading journals like the Lancet and the Journal of the American Medical Association. He served as a Special Advisor to the Clinical Trials Unit of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research from 2004-2009 and helped coordinate the World Health Organization's International Clinical Trials Registry Platform in Geneva. Dr Chan plans to continue his leadership in this area.
