Dr. Robin Mason promoted education for sexual and domestic violence treatment during Ontario’s trade mission to Israel May 15 to 20.

Dr. Mason presented her online curricula in providing sensitive, informed care to victims of violence and abuse to organizations such the Association of Americans and Canadians in Israel and the Center for the Breast Cancer Survivor.

She and her collaborators have designed three curricula available at DVeducation.ca. One covers responding to domestic violence in clinical settings, another treating multiple problems at once, such as domestic violence, substance abuse and mental illness, and the third addresses past sexual assault in clinical settings. The three programs have reached more than 15,000 individuals.

Dr. Mason hopes her participation in the delegation will help her develop collaborations and advance medical education. “It highlights that we take sexual assault and domestic violence seriously,” she says.

Innovation, research and business collaborations were among the Government of Ontario’s primary goals for the delegation.
