Maeve Paterson and Karen-Lee Miller, former students of Dr. Janice Du Mont, EdD, received awards for academic achievement in the University of Toronto’s Master of Public Health program, in the field of Social and Behavioural Health Sciences. Paterson received the Gina Gesser Memorial Award and Miller received the David Coburn Award.
CAREB-ACCER Distinguished Service Award
Nancy Walton, PhD, the chair of Women’s College Hospital’s Research Ethics Board, has received a Distinguished Service Award from the Canadian Association of Research Ethics Boards (CAREB). The award recognizes significant contributions to research ethics in teaching, research or service.
Graduate student scholarships
Dr. Javaid Iqbal, a student of Dr. Steven Narod, received support for his research in the areas of cancer and women’s health from the Al and Hannah Perly Graduate Student Scholarship and the Frank Fletcher Memorial Fund.
The Medical University of Vienna appointed Dr. Steven Narod an Adjunct Professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in recognition of his long-standing collaboration with the university.
New chair appointment
Cindy-Lee Dennis, PhD, received the Women’s Health Research Chair at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto’s Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing. She will remain an adjunct scientist at WCRI.
