WCRI welcomes delegation of physicians from Vietnam

WCRI is delighted to welcome a delegation of seven physicians from the National Cancer Hospital, Hanoi, Vietnam, from Monday, October 21 to Friday, October 25.

Drs. Nguyen Van Dinh, Ta Van To, Le Than Duc, To Anh Dung, Le Hong Quang, Do Thi Kim Anh, and Ngo Thanh Tung specialize in the treatment of breast and gynecologic cancer. During their visit in Toronto, they will participate in clinical tours and inter-disciplinary educational sessions with staff and trainees at Women’s College Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto.

Their visit will spark discussions on future collaboration and establish new international networks for knowledge transfer and exchange.

“We are thrilled to host this delegation of doctors from the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital,” says Dr. Ophira Ginsburg, a scientist at Women's College Research Institute and an assistant professor in the University of Toronto's department of medicine as well as the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. “Their visit is a tremendous opportunity to further our collaborations in research, education and training in cancer care for women, and to spark innovative ideas for cancer control here in Canada.”

The delegation will be touring WCH hospital clinics on the morning of Wednesday, October 23. Dr. Le Hong Quang will also speak at WCRI Research Development Rounds on Friday, October 25. The title of his talk will be Cancer Control in Vietnam: Facts & Figures.

“We hope that students, residents, staff and scientists at WCH take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about reducing inequities in women's cancer care,” says Dr. Ginsburg.
