Dr. Shaw is an implementation science researcher who studies how and why innovations are adopted in health care policy and practice. His research spans the implementation of a range of innovations, including virtual care technologies, deprescribing of medications among older people, and new models of integrated care. Dr. Shaw is an interdisciplinary researcher, using primarily qualitative and mixed methods research approaches and drawing on a variety of theoretical perspectives to help provide insight into implementation processes and health system change. Dr. Shaw’s research has been supported by doctoral research awards and postdoctoral fellowships from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and he collaborates with researchers in Spain, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and across Canada.
