Women's College Research Institute Summer Student Program Frequently Asked Questions

The Women's College Research Institute Summer Student Research Program is a summer internship program for undergraduate, graduate and health professional program students. Please find below some frequently asked questions about the program.

Who is eligible?
At the time of application, students must be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or health professional program.

How do I apply?
Due to an overwhelming amount of applicants, applications for the 2019 Summer Student Research Program will no longer be accepted at this time.

In accordance with Hospital policy, employment at Women's College Hospital is conditional upon providing the Hospital with satisfactory documentation of tuberculosis testing and your immunization.

Do I have to submit a cover letter?
Although not a required part of the application, include a cover letter if you feel it is appropriate.

I sent my application. When will I hear if I have been selected for an interview?

Applicants will be notified in late February if they have been selected for an interview. Due to the volume of applications received, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Can international students apply?
Yes, international students may apply to the program.

What are the timelines and hours of work?
The program typically runs Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, this may vary slightly with research mentors. Projects will run for a minimum of 12 weeks up to a maximum of 16 weeks.

When is the deadline for applications?
Applications are now closed for the 2019 Summer Student Research Program.

What remuneration do summer students receive?
Students are paid between $14 and $15 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week with 4% vacation pay.
