In the spotlight: Dr. Cindy-Lee Dennis

February 2014

Dr. Cindy-Lee Dennis

Dr. Cindy-Lee Dennis, Shirley Brown Chair in Women’s Mental Health Research at Women’s College Hospital and senior scientist at Women’s College Research Institute, has had an exceptional year.

She has been travelling the world to share her research in postpartum depression and ways to prevent and manage it. In October and November 2013, she was invited to present a keynote address at conferences in Qatar and Norway, and a workshop at a mental health conference in Chicago. With three recently awarded CIHR grants valued at over $3.5 million, she will be examining the consequences of postpartum depression in mothers and fathers, evaluating a collaborative care intervention for postpartum depression, and trialing an intervention to increase breastfeeding in new moms.

On February 22, 2014, she received the Helping Hands Hope Award from the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba.
