WCRI scientists and trainees honoured with recent awards

Dr. Andrea Gruneir received the Canadian Institutes of Health Research New Investigator Award to study emergency department visits among long-term care residents in Ontario.

Dr. Joanne Kotsopoulos received the new Canadian Cancer Society Career Development Award in Prevention, which will provide her with protected research time and allow her develop her career as a cancer epidemiologist.  Her research aims to help define novel strategies for the prevention, treatment and management of breast and ovarian cancer with a specific focus in high-risk populations.

Dr. Paula Rochon, Vice-President, Research, Women’s College Hospital, was elected as a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. This fellowship recognizes Rochon’s research that examines patterns of adverse drug events and explores the impact of drug therapies on older adults, who are predominantly women.
