My research interests lie at better understanding gender (and all other social constructs) disparities that exist in Anesthesiology, and at large, in Medicine as well as the mechanisms by which these disparities are perpetuated. I aspire to problematize the current gender binary descriptions within Anesthesiology and Medicine. I also seek to better comprehend how a continuum model of gender can shift our academic dialogue and avoid the current polarization that leads to segregation and isolation rather than diversity and inclusion. This rich understanding will be used to question and dismantle dominant ideologies as well as to make important changes in Anesthesiology and in medical education more broadly.
